As part of a special collaboration with Lucy Tupu Studio, Nick’s artistic language has been reimagined into a beautiful collection of rugs, translating his visual storytelling into rich, textural forms. This partnership bridges the worlds of fine art and design, offering unique pieces that bring depth, energy, and an artist’s perspective to interior spaces.

Nick Lamia is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of nature and the built environment. With a background in painting, printmaking, and installation, his art is known for its dynamic compositions, layered textures, and bold use of color. His practice is deeply influenced by ecology, movement, and the way elements interact within a given space.

Each of these designs are handmade in Nepal using 100% Tibetan wool and hand-knotted at 100 knots per square inch.
Hand knotted quality allows for intricate, detailed designs. Choosing this level of craftsmanship was essential—it allows us to capture the subtle shifts in color, the interplay of shapes, and, most importantly, the rich texture that mirrors the essence of Nick’s artwork. The result is a collection that not only reflects his vision but also brings it to life in a beautifully tactile way.

"Collaborating with Lucy Tupu and her top-notch team has been terrific. When we began (in 2019!) I had zero knowledge of rug design, materials or production. I had no idea how colored pencil and graphite drawings could be translated into knotted silk and tufted wool. Or how one of my sketchbook designs might be scaled to fill a room. Through a consistently cheerful dialogue that survived Covid, her relocation from NYC to New Zealand and me moving my studio from Chelsea to the Upper East Side, Lucy illuminated some features of her industry and in so doing opened my eyes to aspects of my work I hadn’t considered. Our work together opened my creative process to new areas of exploration and I am so pleased and proud of our results."

“I have known Nick for a little over 10 years and have always been drawn to the way he translates what he sees and remembers into his work. Nick’s Cloud Architecture exhibition completely captivated me - there’s a delicate, almost poetic sensibility in his work that I found fascinating and I started imagining how his visual vocabulary could transform into something more tactile. I approached Nick with the idea of bringing his art into the realm of textiles, adding depth and texture to his already dynamic forms. It felt like such an exciting opportunity and a natural evolution for both of us.”
